Re: Is Varo still around?

I need something so I've come out of my hole.  After I rudely ask for what I need, I'll disappear again as a thank you for helping me.

What's your email address? Put simply, I want to buy the PRs.

Re: Is Varo still around?

As far as I know, they are lost to Internet history.

I sold them to varo, so I have no rights to sell them to you.  Not that I could if I wanted to, since I kept none of the source code after the sale.

Varo, to my knowledge, doesn't have the code anymore either, but he's your only shot.

What on earth do you want some decade-old code for?

Re: Is Varo still around?

I want to recreate it, honestly. I think it was ahead of it's time, I just had source code for the old Dricas (remember that? lol) and figured I'd take my best shot at peeking inside of the PRs.

If this is something you're interested in redoing, quote me.

I'm gonna pass on that.  No available time at the moment for a project of that scope.

Re: Is Varo still around?

Any idea if there's a script out there comparable to the one you created?

I had trouble locating one, so I came full circle for the only one I knew of. It really was a great piece of work.

Re: Is Varo still around?

All I can tell you is that it was custom built from the ground up, front end and back end, by me.  I doubt you'd find something similar since it was created to fill such a small niche.  The dricas code and/or the old PR code QB had done before mine are probably the other two closest things out there.

Your best bet is that varo still has the original source code CDs I sent him (and that he's willing to send it to you).

I wanna say that he once offered it up to someone here for free, on the condition that his involvement was limited to sending them the CD's and he was done, but my memory is hazy.

Other than that your only other option is to do what I did, code it yourself from the ground up.

Re: Is Varo still around?

Terrible news.

I had contacted him once, and if I recall correctly, he didn't have the files any longer.

I'm no coder, however, I would love to bring 'em back to life. The whole locker room with recent games, favorite teams, etc was pretty beastly. Perhaps back then I never would have, but thanks for the hard work that went into that. (You, Josh, QB, Varo)

Never know what you have until it's gone, I suppose. Are you sure there's no other options? How do you feel about this second rate looking service: http://eliteladders.com/

Well never say never.  I'm sure there's a thousand other "ladder system" codebases out there.  I guess it's just a matter of finding one that could suit your needs, and only you know what those are exactly.

I don't know anything about http://eliteladders.com/  so I couldn't recommend them nor could I say stay away.

The link, and the link within the link were great trips down memory lane.

Apparently, it's a no. =/

Thanks for your help, Meld.

Do you know the link to the PRs so I could use the wayback machine to check it out?
